Interlaken is a resort town in central Switzerland between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. It is surrounded by mountains with dense forests and alpine meadows. With numerous valleys in this region, you will have so much to explore. Interlaken is easy to get to with its great road and rail links. Bern (the capital of Switzerland) is only an hours train journey away. I have traveled to many beautiful places around the world for years but this is by far my favorite. With so many things to see and do you'll be sure to find something that is suitable.

Summer is a fantastic time to visit as the weather is good and the landscape is stunning with its rich colours. Summer is the peak season for outdoor activities like hiking, rafting, hang-gliding, canyoning and mountain biking. The list is endless so if you love the outdoors and looking for an adventure then Interlaken is a great location. Also, there are some cool day trips in the surrounding valleys which I highly recommend. Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and Jungfraujoch are beautiful places to explore. All of this sounds great however, there is a chance of the weather turning bad. But don't despair as you can find other things to do on a rainy day. Why not try a spot of watch shopping, chilling at a bar, having a spa day at Victoria Jungfrau hotel or learn about Swiss chocolate at the Funky Chocolate Club.

Everyone knows that skydiving is the ultimate adrenaline rush and Interlaken is one of the top locations in the world for this. As I have previously done two skydives before I couldn't resist booking a tandem one out of a helicopter. The whole experience was incredible with stunning views of both lakes and mountain ranges. The helicopter ride up to 14'000 feet was a bonus because we were able to fly in the nearby valleys of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. Check out the full video of my tandem skydive at the bottom of this page.

Hiring an e-bike for the day is a fantastic way to see the Swiss countryside. There are many trails to choose from but I would recommend cycling through Lauterbrunnen. This valley is unbelievably gorgeous with its rocky cliffs and waterfalls. The village of Lauterbrunnen is picturesque and a great place to explore.

Interlaken has a wide variety of hotels to choose from and an abundance of restaurants to enjoy. You can find all types of places to eat like Italian, Indian and Chinese restaurants. But you must try the local Swiss food, especially their chocolate (it's amazing). However, a trip to Interlaken isn't cheap at all. The cost of food, accommodation, and transport is above average compared to other countries in Western Europe.
